Xtractor Software Download

Xtractor Practice Software

If you have a MIDI instrument then you can use Xtractor to record and upload performances to your portfolio. If you don't have a MIDI instrument you can use our webcam recording facility to upload performances.

Windows 10 / 8 / 7 / Vista / XP

Gigajam Xtractor X5 requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4, which may already be installed on your system. You must ensure that you install this before installing Xtractor. Even if you think you may already have .NET installed it's still worth running Microsofts installer to check so, there may be recent updates.

Windows 8 already has .NET 4 installed.

Install GigajamXtractor X5 by downloading to your hard disc drive and then double-clicking the msi file. X5 now contains all Xtractors in one application, as well as Analyser.

Xtractor Synth Beta

XtractorSynth combines a MIDI SoundFont engine, with a MIDI loop device. It is intended to be a low latency replacement for the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth that is included in Windows.

This allows Xtractor to be used with controller keyboards and other MIDI devices without a built in hardware synth, such as some drum machines and guitar controllers without the latency that has previously been a big problem for these devices.

Mobile and Tablets

You can play along with the backing track in the browser and link your YouTube to videos to your portfolio.

There is no Xtractor for mobile platforms.

Mac OS X (v. 10.7 and above)

The Windows version of Xtractor works brilliantly under Parallels. There isn't a native Xtractor for OS X 10.7 and above.

Alternatively users that don't have access to something like Parallels can use our webcam recording feature to upload exercises and get them marked.

There is nothing to download for this it's all built into the lessons in your browser.

Mac OS X (v. 10.3 Tiger to 10.6 Snow Leopard ONLY)

Gigajam Xtractor was designed for PowerPC Macs but will also run on Intel based Macs upto 10.6. The Mono Framework is now a universal binary and will install on either and run natively. Xtractor and Analyser have been tested and found to work perfectly under Rosetta.

Windows Media Player for OS X is no longer required. Instead we recommend that you use the Flip4Mac plugin for QuickTime, it works seamlessly and saves having an extra media player installed.
